Cowen Design Group served as the Civil Engineer and Landscape Architect of Record for the Major Renovation project for the U.S. Embassy Compound in Amman, Jordan. The project included a new office expansion, pool and recreational facilities, access control buildings, and utility infrastructure.

The major renovation to the U.S. Embassy Compound in Amman, Jordan was designed to retain an urban community characteristic to the campus. The new building was integrated into the existing architecture, while also adapting with more welcoming design aesthetics. The landscape architecture also picks up on these components through the use of shade structures and trellis plantings which soften the stone elements of the consular garden. Rainwater is collected in an existing cistern and reused for irrigation. Combined with xeriscape design strategies, the softscape for the project significantly reduces the potable water demand for irrigation.
